About KottuRoti

Sri Lanka's AI news, all in one place.

KottuRoti is an independent Sri Lankan news service. We follow dozens of national newspapers, broadcasters and online outlets across Sinhala, Tamil and English, and bring what they report together into one clear place — so you can see everything happening in Sri Lanka without checking a dozen sites or reading the same event ten times over.

How we write each story

When several outlets report on the same event, KottuRoti groups those reports together and writes a single, original news story that combines them in our own words. We do not copy or republish any outlet's article. Instead, our editorial process reads across every source covering a story and produces a fresh, neutral summary: it attributes specific or contested claims to the outlet that made them, notes where sources disagree, and sticks to facts that appear in the underlying reporting rather than adding speculation.

Every story lists the original outlets it draws on, with a link out to each one, so you can always read the primary reporting in full and see exactly where a detail came from. Our aim is to add clarity on top of the reporting others do — merging many accounts into one readable story — while sending readers and credit back to the journalists who broke it.

Our sources

We aggregate from a wide range of established Sri Lankan outlets across all three languages — national newspapers, television news sites and online-only publications. You can see the full list on our Sri Lankan newspapers directory. If you publish Sri Lankan news and would like your outlet added, corrected, or removed, email us at the address below.

Languages

KottuRoti publishes in English, Sinhala and Tamil. Each story is served in its own language; you can follow the latest news, today's digest, or the breaking news feed.

Who runs KottuRoti

KottuRoti is an independent project, built and maintained by a small team in Sri Lanka. It is not owned by or affiliated with any of the news outlets it aggregates, any political party, or any government body. It is funded independently, and we keep the reporting we summarise clearly separate from any advertising on the site.
