About KottuRoti

KottuRoti is an independent Sri Lankan news service. We follow dozens of national newspapers, broadcasters and online outlets across Sinhala, Tamil and English, and bring what they report together into one clear place — so you can see everything happening in Sri Lanka without checking a dozen sites or reading the same event ten times over.

Two kinds of pages

Source-coverage pages are public reference records: they group linked headlines, outlets and publication times. Historical records remain at their existing URLs, but do not reproduce publishers' full article text or photographs. These records are labelled as archive coverage, not original KottuRoti reporting.

Editorial synthesis pages contain articles prepared by our editorial team from selected source reports. The aim is to compare attributed accounts, explain supported context and identify differences without inventing facts. They link to the underlying reporting. KottuRoti does not claim eyewitness reporting or independent verification of every claim.

Editorial process

Our editorial team reviews source reports, checks copy overlap, and ensures completeness and quality. Strong drafts can publish automatically within a daily limit; flagged drafts go to the editorial queue for manual review. Each synthesis states whether publication followed automated checks or an editor's review. Some articles include dated source comparison notes with links and specific revision notes. All content is prepared by our editorial team and does not represent independent reporting unless verified by editors.

Multiple outlets can repeat the same wire report or press release. Grouping those outlets is useful for navigation, but does not establish independent confirmation. Read the linked reports for their full context and later updates. Source-coverage pages carry no ads and are not submitted as original news in our news sitemaps.

Our sources

We aggregate from a wide range of established Sri Lankan outlets across all three languages — national newspapers, television news sites and online-only publications. You can see the full list on our Sri Lankan newspapers directory. If you publish Sri Lankan news and would like your outlet added, corrected, or removed, email us at the address below.

Languages

KottuRoti publishes in English, Sinhala and Tamil. Each story is served in its own language; you can follow the latest news, today's digest, or the breaking news feed.

Who runs KottuRoti

KottuRoti is an independent project built and maintained by Joel in Sri Lanka. It is not owned by or affiliated with any of the news outlets it aggregates, any political party, or any government body. It is funded independently, and we keep the reporting we summarise clearly separate from any advertising on the site.
