Terms & Conditions

Important: we aggregate the news, we do not report it
KottuRoti is a news aggregation service. The news stories shown on this site and in our app are not written or owned by us. We collect publicly available articles from independent Sri Lankan news sources, group articles that cover the same event, and use automated AI to produce a short, neutral summary so the news is easier to follow in one place. All facts, opinions, and original reporting belong to the original publishers, not to KottuRoti.
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of KottuRoti (the “Service”), including the website at kotturoti.app and our mobile applications. By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. The Service
KottuRoti automatically scrapes publicly accessible news sources (RSS feeds and web pages), clusters articles that report the same event, and uses AI to merge each cluster into a single neutral summary and key points, made available in English, Sinhala, and Tamil. The Service is provided to help you read Sri Lankan news clearly and in one place.
2. Aggregated content and third-party sources
We do not create, author, endorse, or guarantee the news content surfaced through the Service. Summaries are generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies, and may not reflect the latest developments. Where a summary is shown, links and attribution to the original source are provided wherever possible. For the full and authoritative version of any story, you should read the original publisher’s article. Your reliance on any aggregated or AI-generated content is at your own risk.
3. Intellectual property
Copyright in original articles, headlines, images, and other source material remains with the respective publishers and rights holders. The KottuRoti name, logo, software, design, and our own AI-generated summaries (to the extent protectable) belong to KottuRoti and may not be copied or reused without permission. If you are a rights holder and believe content has been used improperly, contact us at hi@kotturoti.app and we will review and, where appropriate, remove or amend it promptly.
4. Accounts
Some features require an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information and be legally able to enter into these Terms. We may suspend or terminate accounts that misuse the Service.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by: attempting to disrupt or overload our systems; scraping, copying, or redistributing our summaries at scale without permission; reverse-engineering the Service; using it for any unlawful purpose; or infringing the rights of others.
6. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, complete, accurate, or fit for any particular purpose. News summaries are informational only and are not professional, legal, financial, or other advice.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, KottuRoti and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for any loss arising from your reliance on aggregated or AI-generated content, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such loss.
8. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may update the Service or these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
