A formal appointment ceremony for 112 newly recruited fisheries officers is set to take place in Colombo on Wednesday morning, marking a significant addition to the country's fisheries workforce. The event will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Nelum Auditorium, where the officers will receive their official appointment letters.
Several high-ranking officials from the fisheries sector are expected to participate in the ceremony. These include Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources Ramalingam Chandrasekar, Deputy Minister Rathna Gamage, Ministry Secretary B.K. Kolitha Kamal Jinadasa, and Director General of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Susantha Kahawatta.
The recruitment of these officers represents an effort to strengthen the country's fisheries administration and enforcement capabilities across the sector.
