A van carrying factory workers plunged down a precipice in Bulathsinhala on Wednesday morning, resulting in fourteen people being admitted to hospitals with non-serious injuries.

A transport van carrying factory workers met with an accident Wednesday morning in the Udugalakanda area of Amaragedara, Bulathsinhala, when it veered off a road and descended down a steep hillside. The vehicle was en route to a factory from the Udugalakanda residential area when the incident took place.

Emergency services responded to the incident and transported the injured to nearby medical facilities. Six of those hospitalised were admitted to Horana District Hospital, while the remaining eight individuals received treatment at Bulathsinhala Divisional Hospital. According to police, none of the injured persons sustained serious injuries requiring urgent intervention.

The group comprised predominantly women workers, with twelve female passengers among the injured. The van's driver and one other male passenger were also among those hospitalised. Police did not provide additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the van leaving the roadway.
