A passenger bus overturned on a road in Egypt's South Sinai province on Wednesday, resulting in at least 16 deaths and 28 injuries, according to the country's Health Ministry.
A major transportation accident unfolded Wednesday in Egypt's South Sinai region when a passenger bus overturned along the Dahab-Nuweiba road near the Al-Saada area, heading toward Nuweiba. The incident resulted in significant casualties, with the Health Ministry reporting at least 16 fatalities and 28 people sustaining injuries.
Following notification of the accident, authorities dispatched 20 ambulances to the scene to respond to the emergency. Those injured in the crash were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment, while 16 individuals were confirmed dead at the site of the accident, based on preliminary assessments.
Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar responded to the incident by instructing medical facilities across the region to heighten their operational readiness. The directive emphasized ensuring that injured persons receive comprehensive care, including necessary medications and medical supplies. Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar confirmed that medical teams remained engaged in monitoring developments related to the incident and the condition of those affected.
