The minibus that was involved in the accident was taking vegetables to the market while the driver was away due to work. The accident occurred when a 16-year-old boy stole the keys of the minibus and drove away.

It is noteworthy that during the accident, the minibus hit an electric pole, a signal pole belonging to the Road Development Authority and goods from the shops.

The 16-year-old boy who caused the accident has surrendered at the nearby Kalmunai Headquarters Police Station. The Kalmunai Headquarters Traffic Police are conducting further investigations into this incident.
