COLOMBO (News 1st) - The operational centre to provide information on Dengue Control and Prevention has received 207 complaints within a week.Acting Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, said that most of the complaints were related to locations where stagnant water had accumulated and mosquito larvae were found.Notices have been issued and legal action is being taken against such premises.Meanwhile, a three-day nationwide mosquito control programme has been launched from today, under the direction of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.Minister Professor Chandana Abeyratne said that officers from the Clean Sri Lanka programme, along with District and Divisional Secretariat officials across the country, will take part in the special Dengue Eradication campaign.According to the National Dengue Control Unit, 55,406 dengue cases have been reported so far this year.The highest number of cases has been recorded in the Western Province, totaling 21,565.The number of high-risk Medical Officer of Health (MOH) areas has also increased to 124.The dengue death toll for the year currently stands at 32.
