Police have arrested a young man carrying significant quantities of crystal methamphetamine, heroin, and cannabis following a vehicle search at a checkpoint in the Ahungalla area.

Officers from Ahungalla Police Station apprehended a 23-year-old resident of Watugedara during a routine vehicle inspection at the Elathota Junction roadblock in Ahungalla. The arrest was made after police stopped and searched a motorcycle that aroused suspicion during the checkpoint operation.

The suspect was found to be carrying substantial quantities of multiple narcotics. According to police, the seized drugs included 1 kilogram and 194 grams of crystal methamphetamine (known as 'Ice'), 217 grams of heroin, and 101 grams and 270 milligrams of cannabis (referred to as 'kush'). The motorcycle used in the suspected drug transportation was also seized by authorities.

The Ahungalla Police Station is currently conducting further investigations into the matter to determine additional details surrounding the arrest, including potential links to larger drug distribution networks or the intended destination of the confiscated narcotics.
