Sri Lanka have been forced into making at least two changes to their playing XI for the second and final Test against the West Indies, with Newswire confirming that Pathum Nissanka and Lahiru Kumara have both been ruled out through injury. Newswire learns that opener Pathum Nissanka has travelled to London to undergo wrist surgery, while fast bowler Lahiru Kumara has been sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury during the first Test. Lahiru Udara is the frontrunner to replace Nissanka at the top of the order. Although Pasindu Sooriyabandara is the other specialist batter in the squad, team sources told Newswire that Udara is the more likely replacement given his experience as an opening batter. Sri Lanka’s pace attack is also expected to be reshuffled, with Vishva Fernando and uncapped Isitha Wijesundara in contention to replace Kumara. However, Newswire understands that Vishva Fernando is also carrying a minor niggle, leaving the team management with a selection dilemma ahead of the second Test. Sri Lanka left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya also remains an option depending on the conditions. Sri Lanka are looking to recover from an innings and 217-run defeat in the opening Test when the second and final match gets underway on Thursday. (Newswire)
