COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) says it has purchased 305 metric tons of paddy within the first four days of its paddy purchasing programme.PMB Chairman Manjula Pinnalanda said the largest quantity of paddy has been purchased from the Ampara District.Paddy has also been procured from the Northern and Southern Provinces, as well as the districts of Batticaloa, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, and Hambantota.The PMB has opened 43 storage facilities so far, while another 143 warehouses have been prepared for operations.Under the government's guaranteed price scheme, Nadu paddy is being purchased at Rs. 120 per kilogram, Samba at Rs. 130 per kilogram, and Keeri Samba at Rs. 140 per kilogram.
