A 32-year-old resident of Pannipitiya has been arrested following the discovery of over 2 kilograms of narcotics and nearly Rs. 40,000 in cash during a vehicle search in the Hokandara area.

Law enforcement officials have arrested a 32-year-old man from Pannipitiya on suspicion of drug trafficking following an operation in the Hokandara district. The arrest took place on August 30 when officers from the Special Task Force's Special Operations Unit III conducted a raid based on prior intelligence gathering.

The operation was carried out near a fuel station within the Malabe Police Division area. During the search of the suspect's motor vehicle, authorities recovered more than 2 kilograms of narcotics alongside Rs. 39,290 in cash. According to police statements, the suspect was actively transporting the drugs at the time of the arrest.

The individual currently remains in police custody as investigators continue their examination of the case. Additional details regarding the nature of the narcotics, the source of the drugs, and potential links to larger trafficking networks have not yet been disclosed by authorities.
