The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has scheduled a five-hour water interruption across several Kandy districts tomorrow to carry out essential maintenance work on distribution infrastructure.
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced plans to cut water supply to numerous areas across Kandy tomorrow for scheduled maintenance activities. The interruption, lasting five hours from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., will affect communities served by the Poojapitiya Water Supply Scheme through multiple distribution reservoirs.
The affected service areas include zones managed by the Medawala Old and New reservoirs, as well as sections supplied by the Gallenawatta, Galagedara, and Mawathagama facilities. Medawala Old will impact residents in Kevumkohe Road, Gonigoda, Gurukewe, Palkumbura, Idamegama and surrounding localities, while Medawala New supplies Batugoda, Ehelagashinna, Diddeniya, Owissa and nearby communities. The Gallenawatta reservoir serves Gallenawatta and Khananga, while Galagedara covers Galagedara proper, Wemada, Boyagoda and areas along Rambukkana, Poholiyadda and Kurunegala roads. Mawathagama residents in Mawathagama town, Barandana Road, Paragahadeniya, Yatiwilla, Millawa and Pilessa will also experience the suspension.
The NWSDB has requested residents in affected areas to conserve water supplies during the maintenance period and has apologised for the inconvenience. Consumers seeking additional information are encouraged to contact the board through its 1939 hotline.
