The Lanka Metro Transit project has unveiled seven new bus routes designed to enhance connectivity between Colombo and its suburbs, aiming to provide commuters with more efficient and organized public transport services.
The Lanka Metro Transit initiative has announced the introduction of seven additional bus routes that will serve Colombo and surrounding suburban areas. The expansion represents an effort to strengthen the region's public transportation network and improve accessibility for commuters traveling between the city center and outlying districts.
The new routes announced are: Makumbura to Pettah covering 23.3 kilometers, Millennium City to Colombo Fort at 22.3 kilometers, Kadawatha to Makumbura spanning 34.8 kilometers, Dematagoda to Panadura at 28.7 kilometers, Battaramulla to Ekala covering 29.9 kilometers, a Kollupitiya Circular Route of 14 kilometers, and Kesbewa to Pettah extending 35.7 kilometers.
According to the project organizers, the expanded bus network is intended to improve transportation connectivity between Colombo's central areas and surrounding municipalities. The initiative aims to deliver a more structured and user-friendly public transport experience for regular commuters relying on bus services in the greater Colombo region.
