An elderly resident of Ma Oya was fatally wounded in an altercation with his son-in-law in the Thorapitiya area of Laggala. The suspect has since fled the scene.
A 78-year-old man has died following a violent attack in the Thorapitiya locality of Laggala. According to police, the victim sustained injuries from a sharp weapon during the incident. Although officers transported him to hospital for emergency treatment, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Initial police investigations suggest that the attack stemmed from a dispute between the victim and his son-in-law. The argument between the two men escalated into violence, resulting in the fatal injury. The assailant subsequently left the area before police could apprehend him.
The victim was a resident of the Ma Oya area. Laggala Police have launched an ongoing investigation and are actively seeking to locate and arrest the suspect in connection with the death.
