Authorities have developed a comprehensive plan involving multiple government agencies to guarantee that the Grade Five Scholarship and Advanced Level examinations proceed without disruption amid adverse weather conditions.
Sri Lankan education authorities have activated a special national contingency plan to safeguard the upcoming Advanced Level examinations scheduled to commence in the coming days, according to A.G. Dharmathilaka, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Defence.
The plan has been jointly developed by the Ministry of Defence, the Disaster Management Centre, and the Department of Examinations, with support from the Tri-Forces and Police. Dharmathilaka stated that extensive coordination has taken place to ensure all candidates can participate without difficulty, with multiple transport facilities and alternative arrangements already in place.
Authorities have prepared several contingency measures to address potential disruptions caused by prevailing adverse weather. Dharmathilaka expressed confidence that the examinations can be held without interruption, noting that rainfall is expected to ease from the 9th onwards. He stated that while the Department of Examinations retains the authority to make alternative decisions if necessary, "there will be no obstacle to conducting the Advanced Level Examination."
The Grade Five Scholarship Examination will also be conducted under the same protective framework. Officials have emphasized that no student should face obstacles in participating in either examination, with all necessary logistical support confirmed to be in readiness.
