Amãna Bank marked its fifteenth anniversary of operations on August 1st, 2026, consolidating its position as Sri Lanka's only licensed commercial bank operating exclusively under a non-interest-based model. The institution has grown to serve over 500,000 customers and surpassed LKR 200 billion in total assets.

Amãna Bank reached a significant milestone on August 1st, having operated for 15 years since its establishment in 2011 as Sri Lanka's first and only licensed commercial bank functioning entirely on a non-interest-based banking framework. The bank operates through more than 80 customer locations, including branches and self-banking centres distributed across the country, serving approximately 500,000 customers.

The institution has demonstrated sustained financial growth while navigating periods of economic turbulence within Sri Lanka. Most notably, Amãna Bank recently exceeded LKR 200 billion in total assets, placing it among the fastest-growing banks in the country to reach this threshold. According to the bank's statements, it has consistently surpassed industry growth rates in both deposits and financing operations while maintaining a strong customer asset and liability ratio and low non-performing advances figures. The bank has maintained profitability throughout its operations and distributed dividends consistently over the past eight years.

Operating as a retail and small-to-medium enterprise focused institution, Amãna Bank channels financing directly into productive economic sectors through its asset-backed banking model. The bank's strategic shareholder remains the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector, the private sector arm of the Islamic Development Bank Group, despite Sri Lanka not holding membership status within that organization. This arrangement is cited as a globally recognized example of ethical, value-based banking operating successfully in a diverse market.

Beyond commercial operations, Amãna Bank operates OrphanCare, a community initiative supporting orphaned children transitioning out of institutional care. The program has enrolled over 3,200 children from approximately 90 orphanages nationwide. The bank has received multiple international and local recognitions, including rankings among the world's top 50 strongest Islamic banks and consecutive recognition as Sri Lanka's best bank at the ICC Emerging Asia Banking Awards.
