Sri Lanka's first and only licensed non-interest-based commercial bank marked its 15th anniversary on August 12 with the launch of a special commemorative cover and stamp in collaboration with the Department of Posts.

Amãna Bank PLC commemorated its 15th anniversary through a ceremonial launch of a special cover and stamp on August 12, recognizing the institution's distinctive role in Sri Lanka's financial sector. The event brought together senior figures from both the banking and postal sectors, including Deputy Postmaster General Premachandra Herath and Amãna Bank's leadership team.

Since beginning operations in 2011, Amãna Bank has positioned itself as the country's sole licensed commercial bank operating exclusively on a non-interest-based banking model. The bank has expanded to operate over 80 branches and self-banking centres nationwide, maintaining a focus on retail banking, small and medium enterprises, and development-oriented financing. The institution's asset-backed banking approach directs capital toward productive economic sectors.

Chairman Asgi Akbarally described the commemorative stamp as a tribute to the bank's journey built on vision and trust, while Managing Director Mohamed Azmeer highlighted the historical significance of preserving institutional milestones through postal stamps. The launch formed part of broader 15th anniversary celebrations reflecting the bank's commitment to sustainable value creation.

Amãna Bank operates as a standalone institution licensed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange. The Jeddah-based IsDB Group serves as the principal shareholder. The bank has been recognized among the top 50 strongest Islamic banks globally by The Asian Banker.
