Seven people, including Buddhist monks, have been arrested in a raid on a hotel in the US city of Boston for allegedly trying to obtain sexual services for money. The raid was conducted at the Revere Hotel on Saturday as part of a special operation called “Operation Red Card” launched by Boston police to crack down on human trafficking and prostitution ahead of the FIFA World Cup. The police said that the main objective of the operation was to identify networks that advertise women and children for commercial sexual services. Accordingly, a case has been filed against all seven suspects, including the arrested Mahayaye Vineetha, in Boston Central Metropolitan Court on charges of seeking sexual services for money. This Sri Lankan monk, who was working as a Buddhist religious advisor at Tufts University in the United States, is said to have resigned from his post following the incident.
