The Ministry of Health and Mass Media has launched the Homagama Journalists' Housing Scheme, offering 27 housing units to eligible media professionals across print, electronic, and online sectors.

The Ministry of Health and Mass Media has announced an application period for its Homagama Journalists' Housing Scheme, designed to provide housing assistance to working journalists. The initiative targets professionals employed across print, electronic, and online media institutions throughout the country.

To qualify for the scheme, applicants must meet several requirements. They must be permanent residents of Sri Lanka and currently own neither a house nor land suitable for residential construction. Additionally, candidates should have accumulated at least 10 years of professional experience in the media sector and be aged between 30 and 60 years at the time of application.

The scheme will make available 27 housing units, each measuring approximately 500 square feet. Selection of beneficiaries will be based on established criteria including professional experience and relevant qualifications, according to the Ministry. Applications became available for download from the Ministry's official website, www.media.gov.lk, beginning August 18, 2026.

Journalists interested in applying must complete their application forms and submit them via registered post to the Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Mass Media office located at No. 163 "Asidisi Medura," Kirulapone Mawatha, Polhengoda, Colombo 05. The Ministry's Mass Media Division is available to provide additional information to prospective applicants throughout the application period.
