Professor Terence Jayaratnam from Jaffna has been awarded the “Member of the Order of Australia (AM)”, Australia’s highest honour. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Professor Terence Jayaratnam has been awarded the “Member of the Order of Australia (AM)”, one of the highest honours bestowed by the Australian Government as part of the King Charles’ Birthday Honours on 8 June 2026. The King Charles Birthday Honours are for his outstanding contributions to social justice, environmental protection and sustainability. Professor Terence Jayaratnam is currently the President of Amnesty International Australia and holds leadership positions in various key organisations.
