Vietnamese airline Vietjet is offering discounted fares from USD90 to Vietnam as it prepares to launch its first direct flight from Colombo to Ho Chi Minh City on 18 August 2026.

Vietjet Air is running a limited-time promotion coinciding with the launch of its new Colombo–Ho Chi Minh City route. The carrier's 8.8 Double Day Sale, running until 21:30 on 8 August 2026, offers economy fares starting from USD90 one way inclusive of taxes and fees on the new service and across its wider network. The promotion applies to travel between 5 September 2026 and 31 March 2027, with certain blackout dates and peak periods excluded.

Beyond economy fares, Vietjet is providing additional incentives for premium passengers. Business and SkyBoss cabin fares carry discounts of up to 30% using promotional code BUSB88, while Deluxe fares on select routes between Hanoi, Almaty, and Prague are discounted 20% with code DLX88. Passengers pre-ordering meal packages will receive 50% off, applicable to all routes excluding connections from 18 August 2026 onwards.

The promotional campaign arrives as Vietjet receives recognition for its operational model. The airline has been named Best Hybrid Airline at South Korea's 2026 Korea Consumer Awards for the first time, alongside accolades for inflight food and service excellence. According to Vietjet, this recognition reflects its transition toward combining budget fares with enhanced service tiers across multiple cabin classes.

The new Colombo service represents part of Vietjet's broader network expansion. Beyond Sri Lanka, the airline is establishing routes from Hanoi to Prague and Almaty later in 2026. From Colombo, passengers will gain connections through Ho Chi Minh City to broader Asian and Asia-Pacific destinations. Bookings for the promotion are available through Vietjet's website, mobile application, and authorized sales channels.
