Police have arrested a suspected distributor linked to underworld figure Badowita Asanka's drug operations, with crystal methamphetamine recovered during the raid.

The Walana Anti-Corruption Unit has arrested an individual identified as Lakmal on suspicion of involvement in drug distribution activities connected to Badowita Asanka's criminal network. The arrest followed intelligence gathered by Chief Inspector Indika Weerasinghe, with the operation conducted under the supervision of ASP Rohan Olugala, Director of the unit.

According to police, preliminary investigations indicate the suspect functioned as a distributor within the network and was responsible for collecting daily proceeds from drug sales and delivering them to Asanka. Officers recovered more than 15 grammes of what is suspected to be crystal methamphetamine during the arrest.

The suspect is currently held at Mount Lavinia Police Headquarters undergoing questioning as authorities continue their investigation into the broader drug operation. Police have not yet disclosed additional details regarding the scope of the investigation or whether further arrests are anticipated.
