The two suspects arrested for the murder and abetment of the murder of a physiotherapist at a Nuwara Eliya resort and the suspect were produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate Buddhika Harshani Dharmadasa yesterday (25) and the Magistrate granted permission to detain and question the suspects for 48 hours upon the request of the Nuwara Eliya Police. The suspects granted permission to detain and question them for 48 hours were Jayasundara Mudiyanselage Champika Sriyan Jayasundara, 43, a resident of Narammala, Ratnayake Mudiyanselage Nethmi Amaya Ratnayake (35), who is said to be the wife of the suspect, and Jayasinghe Arachchige Rajitha Saliya Samarasinghe, 49, a driver of the Kundasale Pradeshiya Sabha who assisted in the murder. The main suspect, his wife and child were arrested by officers of the Walana Anti-Corruption Unit in Kaithadi, Jaffna, while they were travelling in a bus from Wellawatte to Jaffna and handed over to the Nuwara Eliya Police on the 24th. The driver of the Kundasale Pradeshiya Sabha who assisted in the murder was arrested by a group of officers of the Nuwara Eliya Police.
