The Cabinet of Ministers approved the resolution presented by the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Governments to publish the draft bill for Eradicating Rabies and  Registration of Canines in the Government Gazette Notification and there after submit the same to the Parliament for its concurrence.

Considering the resolution furnished by the Prime Minister in her capacity as the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the implementation of the program to provide a gift voucher valued at Rs. 3,000/- for each selected school student, lay, Female and Male Monastic Student of Pirivenas to purchase shoes. Local shoe manufacturers will take  shoes to the school premises within  the Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, and North Western provinces while students in  the Central, North, North Central, and Uva provinces could  purchase the shoes from the open market.

Latest News Horana District Hospital to come under the Ministry of Health and Mass Media

The Horana Hospital, which was a base hospital, had been upgraded to the level of District General Hospital on 03-06-2022 and is currently administered under the Western Provincial Council. At present, the total bed capacity of the hospital is 544, and the approved cadre is 739. The hospital, which is centrally located and covers the Horana area and surrounding areas of Kalutara, Colombo, and Ratnapura districts, provides health care services to a population of approximately one million. Accordingly, having identified the requirement to increase the relevant facilities and human resources to provide tertiary health care services as a District General Hospital, the appropriateness of taking over the aforementioned hospital under the Ministry of Health and Mass media has been recognized. The consent of the  Governor of the Western Province has been received for this purpose. Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the resolution furnished by the Minister of Health and Mass Media to take over Horana District Hospital under the Ministry of Health and Mass Media including all the physical and financial assets.
