CCTV footage captured a fatal collision between two motorcycles and a reversing prime mover on the Negombo–Minuwangoda Road, resulting in the deaths of two young riders. The incident was followed by an arson attack on the vehicle.

A fatal road accident in Bolawalana, Katana on Wednesday night claimed the lives of two teenagers after their motorcycles collided with a prime mover's trailer. According to footage captured on CCTV, the two motorcycles were travelling at high speed when they struck the rear of the prime mover, which was reversing into a container yard along the Negombo–Minuwangoda Road.

The riders, identified as 18-year-old Thalisha Nimneth Siriwardena and 19-year-old Kavindu Hashan Somathilaka, both from the Dagonnna area in Negombo, died at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.

Following the crash, a group of people gathered at the accident site and set fire to the prime mover. Firefighters from the Negombo Municipal Council, assisted by officers from the Katana Police, responded to extinguish the blaze and bring the situation under control. Police have initiated investigations into both the fatal collision and the subsequent arson attack on the vehicle.
