Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu has achieved her best-ever positions in the ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings following a strong showing at the Asia Cup against the United Arab Emirates.
Sri Lanka's captain Chamari Athapaththu has attained career-best rankings across all three categories in the latest ICC Women's T20I Player Ratings. The 36-year-old all-rounder's improved standing comes after her influential performance during Sri Lanka's nine-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates in Dubai, where she contributed both with ball and bat.
In the recent match, Athapaththu took a wicket before scoring an unbeaten 48 runs, helping her side achieve a commanding win in their title defence campaign. This display has lifted her to sixth position among T20I batters, 33rd among bowlers, and third among all-rounders — her highest-ever ratings in each of these rankings categories.
Athapaththu's strong form extends beyond the current tournament. Earlier this year at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, she accumulated 172 runs and secured three wickets for her country. This consistent performance appears to have solidified her standing in the international rankings.
Beyond the Sri Lankan captain, other players from the nation have also gained ground in the latest rankings update. Imesha Dulani has advanced four positions to rank 18th among T20I batters, while Harshita Samarawickrama moved up one place to 23rd. Additionally, spinner Sugandika Kumari climbed five places to 23rd in the T20I bowling rankings. Bangladesh pacer Marufa Akter also gained ground, rising two places to 37th among bowlers after her two-wicket performance against Indonesia.
