The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has concluded its preliminary probe into former Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara, with the court to receive further updates on December 18.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has completed its preliminary investigations into allegations against former Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara, according to an update provided to the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today. Representatives of the commission appeared before Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama to inform the court of the investigation's conclusion and requested additional time to determine what legal action will follow.

Nanayakkara, who was arrested in connection with corruption-related allegations and later released on bail, attended the court proceedings in person. The Chief Magistrate ordered that the commission present further reports by December 18, at which point the court is expected to receive information regarding the next steps in the case.

The investigation centers on allegations that Nanayakkara misused his ministerial position during the previous government to facilitate the deployment of Sri Lankan workers to Israel for agricultural employment. The accusations include claims that the former minister improperly influenced officials at the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment in relation to the worker deployment arrangement.
