Police arrested a 32-year-old man identified as a close associate of organized crime figure 'Alto Dharme' during operations in Mount Lavinia, with crystal methamphetamine seized from his possession.
Law enforcement authorities arrested a 32-year-old resident of Ratmalana on suspicion of drug possession during ongoing crime prevention operations in the Mount Lavinia area. The Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau conducted the arrest on 12 December as part of wider anti-corruption and crime prevention efforts within the police division.
Police recovered approximately 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as 'Ice', from the suspect during the operation. Authorities identified the detained individual as maintaining close associations with 'Alto Dharme', a known organized crime figure and drug trafficker operating within Sri Lanka.
The arrest forms part of sustained police efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks and organized criminal activity. Investigators are continuing their examination of the case, with further details expected as the investigation progresses.
