Authorities have reopened a section of the busy Colombo-Kandy Road at Ganethenna following closure due to landslide concerns.
A portion of the Colombo-Kandy Road at Ganethenna in Kadugannawa has resumed normal traffic operations, according to an announcement from the Disaster Management Centre. The section had been closed to vehicles as a precautionary measure due to elevated landslide risks in the area.
Traffic resumed from 6:00 a.m. on December 4th following what authorities determined was a safe interval to allow vehicles through the previously restricted zone. The reopening suggests that the immediate threat level has been assessed as manageable, though the decision to temporarily restrict passage indicates the area remains topographically sensitive.
