The Colombo–Kankesanthurai intercity express train service, which was earlier restricted to four days a week, will resume normal operations from tomorrow (14), according to railway authorities. The Railway Department had previously decided to suspend the service on Tuesdays and Thursdays due to a shortage of power sets required for operations. However, railway trade unions had informed the authorities that the limited service had caused significant inconvenience and difficulties for passengers using the Northern Railway line.Considering these concerns, railway authorities have decided to reinstate the train services on Tuesdays and Thursdays as well, with effect from tomorrow.Accordingly, passengers will once again be able to use the Colombo–Kankesanthurai intercity express train service throughout the week as usual.
