A 36-page commemorative publication marking one year since the death of Major Ramani Lalithangani Bandara (Retd) was released on August 1st, 2026. The issue, produced by her family, documents the life and contributions of the retired military officer who held several significant roles across different sectors throughout her career.
Major Bandara was instrumental in establishing the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps and served as a founding officer in that capacity. Beyond her military service, she transitioned into journalism, working with Lake House, and established herself as an author. She also engaged in business activities and humanitarian work throughout her life.
Among her notable achievements was her role as founding President of the Sri Lanka Ex-Army Women's Corps Association (SLEAWA), an organization dedicated to supporting former women officers in the military.
