Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena has instructed the Director of the National Hospital in Colombo to submit a comprehensive medical report on former State Intelligence Service Director Suresh Salley. The report is expected to detail his current health condition and assess whether he requires continued inpatient treatment at the facility.
The judicial order was issued following a request presented to the court by State Counsel Oswald Perera, who is representing the Criminal Investigation Department in the matter. Salley remains in custody under a 90-day detention order, which authorities have now obtained for the third time during the ongoing investigation.
Salley was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department on February 25. His detention is connected to investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday terrorist attacks, one of the deadliest incidents in recent Sri Lankan history. The court's decision to seek a medical evaluation suggests concerns regarding his health status during the period of his detention.
