The Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors' Association is requesting the organizers of the Dansals to pay more attention than usual during the Dansals held this year to mark the Poson Full Moon Poya. Accordingly, the Acting Chairman of the Association, Upul Rohana, said that the Dansals should be held in a manner that protects the environment, taking into account the dengue risk in the island. He also requested that steps be taken to completely stop the use of plastic and polythene when holding Dansals. Meanwhile, the number of dengue patients reported from the island has now exceeded 50,000. The National Dengue Control Unit says that 30 people have died of dengue so far.
