Two prison officers injured in the Negombo Prison clash and receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital have died, police confirmed. The deaths occurred yesterday (13) and early today (14). The victims were identified as officers aged 25 and 39. Their deaths raise the toll of prison officers killed in the unrest to ten. Police further reported that 21 inmates also died in the clashes that erupted inside Negombo Prison on July 5 and 6. With the latest fatalities, the overall death toll has climbed to 31.
