A court in the Indian state of West Bengal has directed police to arrest Delhi Capitals cricketer Abishek Porel in connection with a rape case, according to Indian media reports. The Calcutta High Court also ordered investigators to seize the cricketer’s electronic devices, saying they could contain material linked to the case and to prevent any alleged sensitive data from being circulated. According to court proceedings reported by Indian media, police were instructed to continue efforts to trace and arrest Porel, who had not been apprehended at the time of the order. The case stems from a complaint filed last month at Mogra Police Station. The woman alleges that Porel established a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage, recorded intimate moments without her consent, and later threatened her. She also claims she was subjected to repeated threats through phone calls, an associate’s Instagram account and another mobile number. The case includes allegations of rape, criminal intimidation and other offences. The allegations have not been proven in court, and the investigation is ongoing. Porel has not publicly responded to the allegations. (Newswire)
