The total number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka so far this year has increased to 75,321, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).The NDCU said that 843 new cases were reported yesterday (18) alone.Meanwhile, a total of 19,943 dengue infections have been identified during the first 18 days of July.The Western Province has recorded the highest number of cases, with 39,667 infections reported according to NDCU.Furthermore, 11,610 cases have been reported from the Southern Province, 6,325 from the Central Province, and 6,305 from the Sabaragamuwa Province.Gampaha has recorded the highest number of dengue cases this year, with 15,762 infections, followed by Colombo with 15,000 cases and Matara with 5,280 cases.The National Dengue Control Unit further stated that 53 people have died due to dengue so far this year.
