Devapathiraja College, Ratgama secured a place in the Under-15 Division I Cricket Tournament final after defeating St. Sebastian's College, Moratuwa by 95 runs in a semi-final match played on Monday.
Devapathiraja College demonstrated commanding form in their semi-final encounter at the Lyceum International School Grounds, with their bowling attack proving particularly effective in restricting St. Sebastian's College to just 71 runs while chasing a revised target of 166 runs in 35 overs.
The standout performance came from Devapathiraja's bowling unit, led by Sineth Madhusanka, who delivered an exceptional spell that yielded four wickets for only seven runs from 6.4 overs. Support came from Denuwan Yositha and Gauthem Surya, each claiming two wickets for 10 runs. St. Sebastian's batting lineup struggled significantly, with only Hirusha Perera (23) and Sanan Pinsara (20 not out) managing to reach double figures.
Devapathiraja's path to victory was built on a solid first-innings total of 193 for eight from their 47 overs. The innings was anchored by Diyath Sanjitha's unbeaten 73, compiled from 94 deliveries with five boundaries in a measured approach. Deneth Pehasara provided crucial support with 47 runs off 72 balls, striking seven fours and one six.
With this commanding semi-final victory, Devapathiraja has secured a spot in the U15 Division I final. Their opponents will be determined by the outcome of the other semi-final between Royal College, Colombo and St. Benedict's College Kotahena.
