Sri Lankan and European Union officials held discussions on strengthening bilateral ties as Ambassador Carmen Moreno prepares to depart from her posting in Colombo.
Sri Lanka's Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando met with European Union Ambassador Carmen Moreno to review and advance economic cooperation between the two sides. The meeting, conducted ahead of Ambassador Moreno's departure, served as an opportunity to assess the current state of longstanding relations and identify new pathways for collaboration.
During the discussions, both officials examined potential avenues to deepen economic ties and broaden the scope of bilateral engagement. Dr. Fernando acknowledged Ambassador Moreno's efforts in strengthening relations between Sri Lanka and the EU throughout her tenure in the country, which covers representation to both Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
The Finance Ministry framed the meeting as reflective of the established partnership between the two entities and highlighted the significance of ongoing dialogue in advancing shared interests.
