Automotive retailer Evolution Auto and Sampath Bank have signed a memorandum of understanding to make electric vehicle ownership more accessible by combining vehicle offerings with tailored financing solutions.

Evolution Auto and Sampath Bank have formalized a partnership aimed at removing financial and practical barriers to electric vehicle adoption across Sri Lanka. The collaboration seeks to integrate the automotive retailer's expanding EV inventory with the bank's financing capabilities, creating a streamlined pathway for consumers and businesses considering the transition to electric mobility.

Evolution Auto's current portfolio includes internationally recognized brands such as AVATR, IM Motors, XPENG, Riddara, and KYC, spanning premium passenger vehicles as well as commercial and utility solutions. According to Virann De Zoyza, Group CEO of Evolution Auto, the partnership addresses a critical gap in Sri Lanka's EV market. "The next stage of EV adoption involves more than just introducing new technologies; it also involves making those technologies simpler for consumers to choose and own," he stated, emphasizing that both vehicle access and financing options are essential to driving uptake.

The initiative arrives as Sri Lankans increasingly weigh the environmental impact and long-term ownership costs associated with vehicle purchases. The partnership targets professionals, families, and environmentally conscious consumers, while also offering businesses exploring fleet electrification a more comprehensive evaluation framework for electric alternatives.

The collaboration reflects broader momentum toward electrification in Sri Lanka's transport sector, with both organizations positioning EV ownership as a practical mainstream choice rather than a niche option. By addressing financing considerations alongside vehicle availability, the partnership aims to transform how Sri Lankan consumers and businesses approach their next vehicle purchase decision.
