Former Provincial Councillor Jayalath Bandara Dissanayake, the brother of former Minister S.B. Dissanayake, has been arrested by the Central Crimes Investigation Bureau (CCIB) over an alleged Rs. 27.5 million fraud involving a promise to obtain a liquor licence. Police said the suspect allegedly accepted Rs. 27.5 million from a complainant in 2024 after claiming he could secure a liquor licence, but failed to do so. The arrest was made following an investigation by the CCIB. Further investigations are underway, Police said. (Newswire)
