Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has paid his last respects to former Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne, whose remains are lying in state at a private funeral parlour in Colombo.  Wickramaratne, who served as Sri Lanka's 35th Inspector General of Police, was found dead with a gunshot wound at his residence on July 17, 2026.Police suspect that the incident was a case of suicide and believe he had used the firearm issued to his security officer to inflict the fatal gunshot.Meanwhile, the final rites of former IGP C.D. Wickramaratne are scheduled to be held tomorrow (20) with full police honours.
