Wildlife officers in Polonnaruwa have successfully rescued a fishing cat that was trapped in a snare, with the animal now receiving veterinary care.

A fishing cat has been rescued from a snare in the Sevagama area of Polonnaruwa following a wildlife intervention. The Polonnaruwa Wildlife Assistant Director's Office received information about the trapped animal and coordinated a rescue operation to free it from the snare.

Following the rescue, the fishing cat was transferred to the Giritale Wildlife Veterinary Office for medical evaluation and treatment. The animal remains under the supervision of wildlife veterinary officers, who are monitoring its condition and providing necessary care during its recovery.
