Former National Lotteries Board (NLB) Chairman Shyamila Perera has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC). According to reports, Perera was arrested over allegations that three employees recruited to the National Lotteries Board between 2015 and 2019 were deployed to the staff of former Minister Ravi Karunanayake instead of serving at the state institution. Perera, who also serves as the General Secretary of the New Democratic Party, was taken into custody by the Bribery Commission on Monday. The investigation is being carried out by CIABOC, while further legal proceedings are expected. (Newswire)
