Four arrested at BIA with over 12 kilos of hashish and kush

Four suspects, including a female suspect, were arrested with more than 12 kilograms of hashish and kush following a series of intelligence-led raids carried out by the Police Narcotics Bureau’s Katunayake Airport Unit at the Bandaranaike International Airport arrival terminal on 27 June 2026 evening. Police said the arrests were made based on information received, leading officers to conduct targeted checks on arriving passengers suspected of involvement in narcotics trafficking. During the operation, officers recovered a total of over 12 kilograms of narcotics across multiple individuals. One suspect was found in possession of 3 kilograms and 8 grams of hashish along with 1 kilogram and 826 grams of kush. Another suspect was found with 2 kilograms and 310 grams of hashish and 1 kilogram and 952 grams of kush. Two other suspects were found carrying a combined 3 kilograms and 968 milligrams of kush. The suspects are aged between 27 and 34 years and are residents of Hettimulla, Wellampitiya and Danowita areas. (Newswire)
