Police have apprehended four suspects accused of involvement in placing a live hand grenade near a residence in Colombo's Borella district. The incident is believed connected to an organized criminal network.
Four individuals have been taken into custody by police in connection with the placement of a live hand grenade near a house on Leslie Ranagala Mawatha in the Borella area of Colombo. According to police statements, the suspects are accused of aiding and abetting in the positioning of the explosive device at the location.
The motorcycle allegedly used to transport and leave the grenade was recovered abandoned in the Kotikawatta area. Authorities have scheduled the four arrested individuals to appear before court to face charges related to the incident.
Police indicated that the grenade was discovered near the residence of someone with close ties to "Wanathe Chathu," an organized crime figure who was recently apprehended. The connection between the suspects, the grenade placement, and the arrested criminal figure remains under investigation.
