The Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court on Friday ordered that four suspects, including the alleged mastermind behind the murder of a physiotherapist whose body was found inside a vehicle in Teldeniya, be remanded until July 9. Those remanded include the main suspect, his wife, the Officer-in-Charge of the Kundasale Police Training School and a driver attached to the Kundasale Pradeshiya Sabha. The suspects were produced before the Magistrate on Friday, following which the remand order was issued. The body of the physiotherapist was discovered inside a car near the Teldeniya Hospital on June 17. Police investigations later revealed CCTV footage showing the main suspect transporting the victim’s body from a lodge in Nuwara Eliya, before it was found abandoned in the vehicle at Teldeniya. The main suspect and his wife were arrested on June 23 while travelling by bus from Wellawatte to Chavakachcheri. Subsequent investigations revealed that the suspect was wanted in connection with several financial fraud cases pending before courts, police said.The OIC of the Kundasale Police Training School was later arrested by Nuwara Eliya Police for allegedly assisting the main suspect and his wife in evading arrest. by SK Samaranayake
