The final rites of Ven. Rambukana Siddhartha Thera, a celebrated lyricist and Buddhist music composer, took place at the Saranankara Grounds in Dehiwala following his death at age 76.

Ven. Rambukana Siddhartha Thera, a prominent figure in Sri Lanka's Buddhist devotional music scene, passed away on August 18 while undergoing treatment at Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital. He was 76 years old. His funeral rites were conducted on August 21 at the Saranankara Grounds in Dehiwala, with his remains having been made available for public respects at Sudharmaramaya Temple in Wellawatte prior to the ceremony.

The venerable monk, originally from Rambukana in Morawaka, left a lasting impact on Sri Lankan religious and cultural spheres through his substantial contributions to Buddhist devotional music. Throughout his career, he garnered recognition for his artistic achievements, receiving accolades including the prestigious Sarasaviya Award for Best Lyrics. Beyond his creative work, Ven. Rambukana Siddhartha Thera also served in an administrative capacity as Chairman of the Arts Council of Sri Lanka, demonstrating his influence across both artistic and institutional domains.
