Thirty young speakers from schools and higher education institutions will compete in the Future Voices 2026 Grand Finale in Kandy on September 5, showcasing a programme designed to build confidence and communication skills among Sri Lanka's next generation.
The Future Voices 2026 initiative will reach its conclusion with a Grand Finale event scheduled for September 5 at the Level 5 Banquet Hall in Kandy City Centre. The competition brings together 30 young speakers comprising 15 school students and 15 participants from higher education institutions, each selected through preliminary and semi-final rounds.
Participating secondary schools include Gateway College, Swarnamali Girls' College, St. Sylvester's College, Pushpadana Girls' College, Viharamahadevi Girls' College, Badi-ud-din Mahmud Girls' College, Ecole Internationale and Wariyapola Sri Sumangala College. University-level participants represent APIIT, ANC Education, American College of Higher Education, SLIM and SLIIT, creating a diverse platform for young voices across different academic backgrounds.
The programme operates on the principle that "every great voice begins with the courage to speak," focusing on developing confidence, communication skills and leadership abilities among young people. Throughout the competition, participants have been encouraged to think critically and communicate clearly, with the organisers emphasising that the value of participation extends beyond winning prizes. Winners from both categories will receive certificates and cash prizes, while participating schools and institutions will also be recognised.
The event begins at 8:30am on September 5 and aims to highlight the importance of public speaking and self-expression among the younger generation, celebrating not only competitive achievement but the broader development of communication abilities.
