Construction has commenced on a new library facility at Vijayaba Primary School in Matara District, addressing years of inadequate learning resources for nearly 190 students.

Vijayaba Primary School in the Mulatiyana Education Division of Matara District has begun construction of its first dedicated library facility under the Gammadda initiative. The foundation stone was laid following a formal request from the school's principal, signaling the start of a project intended to transform learning conditions at the institution.

The school, which serves approximately 190 students, has operated without a proper library for years. Previously, students relied on a makeshift reading space located in a section of the teachers' quarters outside the school premises, which offered minimal space for independent study or research activities.

Next Sourcing Limited is providing financial support for the construction project. According to Gammadda representatives, the organization is committed to completing the library construction within a reasonable timeframe and handing over the facility to the school to enhance educational opportunities for students.
