A newly constructed bridge connecting two villages in Matale district was officially opened to the public under the Gammadda initiative, addressing transportation challenges faced by residents for generations.
A bridge linking the villages of Godaulpotha and Himbiliyakada in Wilgamuwa, Matale, has been officially inaugurated under the Gammadda community development initiative. According to NewsFirst, the project fulfills infrastructure needs that were identified during Gammadda's door-to-door community survey conducted in 2023.
The construction of the bridge was made possible through contributions from Speedmark Transportation Lanka, with the foundation stone having been laid in recent months. The new crossing spans the Atambe Ela stream, a waterway that previously presented significant obstacles for residents traveling between the two communities.
Villagers in the region had historically faced considerable difficulties navigating the stream crossing, which impacted their daily mobility and access to services. The completion of this infrastructure project is expected to improve connectivity and quality of life for residents of both villages, marking what local observers describe as a significant development for the area.
